Natura Pet Expands Voluntary RECALL

Natura Pet is extending their March 29th recall to include ALL Natura dry dog, cat and ferret food and treats that have expiration dates on or before March 24, 2014.

They are voluntarily recalling their dry pet foods because they have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella.

Please read their press release information HERE.

Includes the following brands:
  • Innova
  •
EVO
  •
California Natural
  •
HealthWise
  •
Karma

HERE is the form to fill out if your product was affected for a replacement.

Note: it is unlikely that a healthy dog would become sick by having Salmonella in pet food, however, it would be a problem for puppies or those dogs with a compromised immune system. It becomes a problem for people when they touch the food and do not wash their hands after feeding their pet.

Also, if you store your pet's food in a container, please take the food out if affected and wash it out with a bleach water solution to kill any bacteria that may be in the container.  I highly suggest cleaning out the container between every bag of food.

IMPORTANT: Signs of Salmonella in Pets
Pets with Salmonella infections may have decreased appetite, fever and abdominal pain. If left untreated, pets may be lethargic and have diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, fever and vomiting. Infected but otherwise healthy pets can be carriers and infect other animals or humans. If your pet has consumed the recalled product and has these symptoms, please contact your veterinarian.
