Coast Guard Rescues Family and their 2 dogs

A feel good story for today.

A family was stranded on Dog Island, FL in their vacation home after heavy rain and a storm surge due to Tropical Storm Debby.  The family was comprised of 5 adults, 4 children, and 2 dogs.  They were on a narrow stretch of the island and after water surrounded the house with water they found themselves with no way to evacuate.  The island is only accessible by ferry, boat or a small airplane and the ferry service that took them to the island was no longer operating due to the weather conditions.  The high tide for the area at that time was said to be 3.5 feet above normal.

  1. I love your feel good story! Lilly is the name of the dog in this picture. She is very special to us. She is a five year old Carin terrier and loves to go to Dog Island. This is probably her favorite place in the world.
